Russia cuts gas price for Armenia by 9% to $150 per 1,000 cbm

YEREVAN, Apr 7 (PRIME) -- Russia has reduced the gas price for Armenia by 9% to U.S. $150 per 1,000 cubic meters, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said following a meeting with his counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday.

“Previously, the gas price stood at $165, but now it is cut to $150. Negotiations will continue. It is still being discussed whether it will influence end consumers,” he said.

Medvedev said, “We have agreed on energy issues, including gas supplies, and it certainly is extremely important in order to secure stable energy consumption in Armenia and development of the republic in general.”

Armenia asked Russia to cut its gas price for the country in January. In September 2015, Moscow decreased its gas price for Yerevan to $165 from $189.
